Crafty Days

Hi everyone. The storms have passed and I feel safe to use my computer, so am going back a couple of weeks. Tues nights Janet has craft night at her studio. She converted their double garage putting in a large ranchslider , good lighting power sockets and lining then transferring her studio furniture and stuff down from the house leaving her DH with his own music room so alls well for all. So here is Janet painting a garage sale butlers tray and browsing the mags I brought round.

Rosemarie was concentrating on quilting her 4th quilt in as many months. I am in awe of how she has taken to it and how well she is doing. She puts me to shame. I dither around too much from project to project.
Dixie is keeping an eye on us from another garage sale trophy.
Coffee and tea always ready and sometimes even naughty cakes. Dont you love the back of that chair. They were garage sale finds as well of course. Dont forget Janet is the GS queen.
What was I doing. Well this Friday I am leading the craft at Time Out and I was preparing the circles of fabrics and other bits and bobs for that so you won't see that till later.
The next day I went to Waiua Pa for another group that has started up. It was pouring with rain so no outside pics. Most of the ladies were from Waiuku Quilters and it was a very cosy time of crafty fellowship and more show and tell. This was Annes picture she had started in a class. The shapes are put on the background with fabric glue to make the picture and then a fine netting put over the to and then quilted together thereby fastening all the pieces together. I love these colourful mediteranean scenes.
This quilt was Annes work and I really interested as each square is backed with lovely bright orange polar fleece and then stitches so the seams stick out at the front with a jagged edge she did with a wavy rotary cutter. Sometimes the seams are clipped and then the quilt washed and tumbles thoroughly to achieve a shaggy look.
Joy had brought along an old project she just finished. It was a row by row group project where the players each did a row of each others quilts following the colours and theme.
I love these dainty crochet motifs of course.
And Margaret had made this lovely table centre from a pattern in a mag. I missed it. I want it.
This embroidery looks right up my street. Simple but very pretty and effective.
I had taken along one of the first quilts I started some years ago for my elder son. He requested NZ birds and bush and NZ fabrics had just recently become available so I decided to use a 60degree daimond and fussy cut the birds and paper piece the. I started with a flourish of course. English paper piecing was my main interest then and has remained a favourite but as youve seen I have a bad habit of being destracted by new and different projects so its time to get it finished. Ive only got a very small area to finish quilting and then bind it and then Tadah.

Some closeups , though the pics are not very clear and colour not so good.

I started quilting each patch bu hand and am still but now I go in a zigzag style and dive through the layers at the corners so the effect is the same. This is my favourite little fellow, the Fantail. They are plentiful around our garden and even come in the house.
Here is our regular friend scouting around for spiders and insects in the lounge and then
he goes upstairs to check out the bedrooms and I have to open the window to let him out. The computer is playing up so I will love you and leave you till nexty time. Blessings Trills.
