More Quilts

Hi there, once again from the quilt show in Hamilton. Apart from the main auditorium was another room devoted to "The Farmers Wife" quilts. These follow the patterns from the book depicting blocks from American history and using older style fabrics reminiscent of those times.

You can see the book beside this quilt.

Amazing how different they look with just different colours used.

There were so many, making a great display. I'm not sure if they were all done by the local ladies.

Also in this room was the display of the Hoffman Challenge, each entry had to use a certain amount of this fabric.

The varied shapes and styles at a glance. I think they all had to be within a certain size boundary but not just a square or rectangle.

The fabric very carefully fussy cut then appliqued onto a cream background for this lovely urn.
There it is. Wow! Look at that stained glass effect.

Close up. See the yoyos, or Suffolk puffs.

And more amazing creations.

And more. The fabric leant itself to very exotic themes.

As I am a great Elephant fan I had to have a close up of this one.
Outside there was this lovely garden display.

My favourite Iceland Poppies. Mine should start flowering soon.
It was a great day with the added delight of having lunch with our son Greg and partner Adrienne who live in Hamilton.

And on the way home we visited Donnas Quilts shop on the other side of Hamilton where we shopped and supped and enjoyed the surroundings.

No this is not what I bought. I have shown this pile before but now it's time to do something with them. I am all fired up and ready, so here goes.

The beginnings of a quilt using my lazy curves style. I'll keep you up with the flow. There may be two going at once. It's our quilt groups biennial show this October so I want to make these for that.
I hope you enjoyed the show. Bye for now. Love and blessings, Trills.xxx

Quilt Show.

Hi again. Yes it was an early start last Saturday morning as we prepared to board the bus for our annual trip. This time to Hamilton for their quilt show.

I wasn't about to be left out with my dicky knees and managed to pull myself up the bus stairs and down and used my crutches all day to help keep on top of any problems.

In the foyer of this pavilion in the botanical gardens is this amazing wood carving.

The other half.

Ok. Here is the show. This first amazing quilt at one of the merchants. Now I will just roll the pics with few words. Hope you enjoy.

Old blankets.

Op shop shirts.

Quilts for sale.

Not these.

I'll be back with more tomorrow. Bye for one, blessings Trills.xx
