Fireside dillydallying

Hi there. I hope you are all keeping warm on this bleak cold day down under. Though here just south of Auckland is not nearly so bleak and cold as down south. My heart goes out to all the animals caught in the snow and the farmers struggling to care for them. So now it is time for tea and crumpets by the fire and a look at what Ive been up to these last few weeks.
I have been somewhat distracted by our house sale which seemed to be going well until yesterday when the buyers cancelled the contract so it is back to square one and another open home next Sunday so I will have to tidy up again.
I have a Tadah . Another bright ripple blanket for the bus to go with the other one on the two single bed seats up front.
They have been such happy things to work on and I am loath to take this one down to the bus as she is now shut up in the barn for the winter while DH does some work on her to prepare her for our trip to the South Island next Feb/March. So for now the rug stays up here in the lounge where we can snuggle under it on cold nights.
Now this is my dillydally corner of the lounge by the fire and I have been fiddling with allsorts of things.
This mag was a great find a couple of weeks ago. See the top righthand area and the hooky glimpse. My sharp eye for all things hooky these days spied it instantly and it hopped into my supermarket trolley, and what joys there were inside.
This beautiful afghan which I intend to make one day for our new lounge down in the cottage.
This pretty mobile which I intend to make one day for a window in the cottage.
This coushion which I havent decided on yet but maybe in bright colours for the bus.
These coasters  and pot stands. The coasters look a good place to start to get the hang of the rose style centre.
And placemats. Ooh Ive just had a retro thought for the bus.
So I had a go at the coasters just with my cheap yarn and I like the look of them but would rather do them in cotton yarn and the pattern was not too difficult.
Now what to do with the rest of this humungus ball of purple yarn now Ive finished my ripple rug.
Well the double bed in the bus could do with a crochet blankey to go under the topper Kaffe Fassett quilt I made in his signature bright colours . It will be  big enough to hand down the sides and show it loveliness.
So we're on our way with the purple as the outside round and joining yarn. I hope there will be enough.haha.
Other fiddling around produced a granny triangle as per Lucy of attic24 who is on a bunting crusade for her upcoming yarn festival in northern UK.Wish I could go. There is also a couple of butterflies
 from another mag
They are part of a curtain tie which caught my eye for ,you've guessed it, the bus but of course it would be in bright colours for the bedroom curtains which at the moment are tied back with some very unromantic twine.
Now this mag goes back to 1994 and I just loved these delicate hearts and finally found some apropriate thread in a cupboard and had a go. I'm not used to using fine thread for crochet but it wasnt too difficult and has given me a taste for finer crochet, maybe doing some doilies.
Some weeks ago I mentioned I was preparing for a project for our Timeout group at church and here is the tray of 3" circles and yoyos that I prepared for the ladies to make
These pretty flowers from Chloe Owens book 'all sewn up'. The buttons I had were not big enough to cover the centre hole though so I made the yoyos using my trusty yoyo maker to fill the gap. This is Anne happy with her flowers
and some more. The ladies enjoyed the morning
and there was still a lot of materials left over so I made more. I even took the tray over to my friend Stephs place for our occasional stitching day at hers in Whitford and we made more so that I now had enough
for a vase at the top of the stairs. Ane I already know where they will go in the cottage.
Another deviation from the main projects is this star cushion from another mag. I think it will go in the, yep, bus.
And when I need a break from all the bright beauties I am still working on my soft ripple for our bed in the cottage. I laid it on the bed the other day and its not far from finished.
So back to the fireside for more of the good stuff. Keep well ,Blessings, Trills.xx
